As is always the way with these things, I happily, almost eagerly, signed up to do a 30km trek through the Verdon Canyon in June (with Baz and Alex for those that know them). 'France in the summer, lovely' and 'How hard can it be? I've done a marathon don't you know' all raced through my mind. Anyway, it turns out I should have read the website properly, perhaps looked at the pictures Alex took having done it last year (see left - clearly a glutton for punishment) as it is more of a running event, the Verdon Canyon is Europe's answer to the Grand Canyon (apparently so) and yes June is hot.
Still, I'm doing it now! Did the Yorkshire 3 peaks at the weekend, have been practicing using my camel pack and repeatedly 'running' up a hill in Richmondo Park (probably not quite the same but it will do). As I always try and support Spinal Research I thought this might be a good opportunity to get a few pounds together.
