It is hard to believe that I have been in training, of some form or another, for the London Marathon for nearly 2 years. It is vital that funds continue to be raised for awareness and treatment for charities who support those who are affected.
In honour of all those who supported me to raise funds towards my target, I completed the 40th London Marathon, virtually. Fun, in spite of the precarious situation and now it’s time to fasten my seatbelt, kick myself up the rear and get on with doing the real thing.
For all those inspiring patients who battle everyday, but even more so for my very own superhero, Sammy. The reason I am so passionate about supporting this small, little known, charity.
Read my initial inspo below but never doubt how what I am aiming to do is a drop in the ocean. So dig deep and please support xx
Words I never thought I'd say...I'm running a marathon!
This year, I completed my first Half Marathon and a through-the-night walking marathon, as well as hours of training and mileage and when my gym and running friends started to get excited about their entry into the 2019 London Marathon, I found myself feeling a little jealous...yes jealous! So, when the ballot opened for the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon, I felt it was time to enter with a place for team Sarcoma and was delighted when, in October, I was commended one of their charity places.
As friends and family who have kindly sponsored many of my plights in the last few years, you will be aware of the personal closeness of this dreadful illness and my reason to focus my attention towards this charity; an extremely selfless and special friend to so many, is currently battling rounds of chemo to combat this awful disease. So what is a marathon comparably?
As always there was never a question when I mentioned (mumbled) my intentions to my supportive and loving husband. 'Go for it' he said without a second thought! My awesome brother entered to run alongside me, but sadly wasn't given a place (although secretly I think he was ecstatic!) and my gorgeous girl, offered, immediately, to run a bake sale for me...watch this space and Bertie was only concerned that I come first! As always I have the backing of my parents for the hours of training that will follow and all of you. Thank you, I am so blessed!
The Sarcoma Trust, is the only cancer charity in the UK focused on all types of sarcoma. Sarcoma is a cancer of the bone and soft tissue. It is one of the hardest to diagnose, and difficult to treat. We can help change this.
