Story
Hello All!
A Very foolish/drunken New Year's resolution/pact/combined error of judgement has resulted in me signing up for the Great North Run in September. Many of you will know that I'm a fully paid-up member of Team Slow and that I'm not exactly a 'natural' runner. Moocher and general potter-er, yes. Runner, no. So a half marathon is going to be a bit of a challenge! And yes I do plan to run all the way - no walking!
On a more serious note I'm running for Martin House children's hospice in memory of my best friend Ami Fenton who passed away at the age of just 19 in December 2005. Ami spent a considerable amount of time at Martin House in her last year with us and I was able to see first hand what a wonderful, positive and peaceful place Martin House is and what a difference the work they do there makes.
A bit of info about Martin House:
The aim of Martin House is to provide family led care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. It is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. It is a place of love and understanding, a peaceful place but one that can also have a lively, friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter, where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.
Martin House relies almost entirely on donations and fundraising to raise over £4 million a year to provide vital care and support for so many local children and their families. It is only through the kind support of so many that we are able to provide these services.
