Story
More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.

Thank you so much for visiting my fund raising page.
This year I am taking on a number of challenges for my amazing Grandfather, Dardar (Martin Thomas).
🔵 On May 28th I will be cycling 100 miles / 160km through London and Essex as part of the Prudential Ride. (COMPLETE) ✅
🔵 On Saturday 17th September, I am swimming 2 miles in the Serpentine in Hyde Park. (Update: 13/09 EVENT POSTPONED TO 2023 DUE TO STATE FUNERAL)
🔵 And the biggest challenge for me...On October 2nd I am running the London Marathon (For those of you who don't know, running does not come naturally to me!)
Dardar was not only a grandfather but he was my Father-Figure, a Son, a loving Husband, Father and loyal friend. He was our families rock and will forever be our hero.
Dardar loved life and approached everything with kindness, generosity and a sense of fun.
Sadly on the 3rd July 2021 my Dardar passed away very suddenly from Pancreatic Cancer.
Dardar started to experience discomfort on Wednesday 23rd June, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer on the following Monday and then on the Saturday he passed away at St Johns Hospice in Moggerhanger.
We were given 6 days with him from the diagnosis.
This was such a whirlwind for our family, and for Dardar too. He was cross, cross that he didn't have the chance to fight, cross that something was taking him away from us and so quickly without warning.
So I am taking on this challenge for him, as I know he'd want to enable more people to have their chance to fight and survive this horrible horrible disease.
Dardar spent so much of his life giving his time to others, I would now like to give MY time to help raise money for this charity in memory of him.
The statistics surrounding Pancreatic cancer are awful and I am hoping to raise as much money as i can to help support the charities aim to diagnose people with the disease early enough to be saved.
Dardar followed me all over the country to watch and cheer me on in every rowing race and sports competition that i did and I know it will be no different for these events.
This ones for you Legend xxx
