Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and read my story. Like many, dementia is a cruel illness that has affected my family, so I have decided to run the Battersea Park Half Marathon to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day a cure is found, they aim to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported, accepted, and able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
My lovely grandad was diagnosed with vascular dementia, and particularly in the last year, its effects have been felt by us all, especially my grandma who continues to help care for him. Accepting help can be a barrier for many living with dementia either directly or indirectly, but the work that the Alzheimer's Society are doing to break down such barriers will create significant improvements in the lives of those impacted.
Thank you for joining this journey with me, its not going to be an easy one as I am no natural runner...that's for sure. But I hope I can make myself and my grandad very proud and raise a bit of money along the way!
