Story
Hello! This is my fundraising page for Virgin London Marathon 2010. I was lucky enough to win a place through my running club and although that means I don’t have to raise any money, several people have asked whether they can sponsor me, so I thought I'd set up a page so that they can donate a couple of quid to my nominated charity.
I have chosen Sargent because of the incredible work they do supporting young people & their families whose lives have been affected by cancer. They are also the official VLM 2010 charity.
I’ve always loathed sport, so if you’d told me a year ago that I’d be attempting the VLM, I would have fallen about laughing. I started running in Feb 2010 with the aim of completing a Race for Life 10k. To my shock, I started to enjoy running and became hooked. Since then, I completed my 10k race and then went on to complete 2 half marathons, a gruelling 15.7 mile cross country race and several league races with my running club the Hermitage Harriers. There’s a lot of hard work to do before I’m ready for the marathon, but there’s a plan on my fridge that’ll get me there.
Thanks for looking at this page. I’ll be keeping it updated with my progress.

*UPDATE*
21/03 - Ashby 20 - Today I ran my first 20 mile distance in the Ashby 20. It was a fairly tough undulating course, but I was running with a lovely random lady who got me through the tough bits to achieve sub 3 hours, which I was delighted with. My initial hopes of running a 4h30 marathon might have been a little pessimistic. At the rate I'm going, I'm now looking at 4hrs. Gulp!!! At the moment though, another 6 miles on top of what I did today seems like an almighty challenge.
