I’m taking part in the 5k RBC Race for the Kids for Great Ormond Street Hospital together with my husband, my children and my parents who are coming over from Spain for this.

This hospital has given us, and it still is, indescribable support. When we were told that our son was profound deaf, just 7 days after he was born, our world crumbled, we were devastated and we didn’t know what the future would hold for him and for our family.

Thanks to Great Ormond Street he has cochlear implants, he can hear, he can speak (two languages!) and he is a very happy little boy. The staff see him regularly and they are amazing, they share our happiness for his successes and they are so friendly and enthusiastic, it doesn’t feel like going to see doctors, they are like part of our family.

I have never done anything like this, those who know me know that I can’t even run to open the door! But we want to give something back to this hospital that help so many children and their families who are in very difficult situations.
