Story
Lorraine Pattison ... fabulous friend to many, magnificent mother to Emma, Katie & Lula, and a wonderful wife to Matt.
Lorraine was super-fit and was passionate about helping and inspiring others on their journey through life. She did this partly through being open and honest about her struggles with depression and mental health problems and through her dedication to fitness - particularly as a member at The Shrewsbury Club.
The summary of her last year is that she suffered increasing, seemingly-unrelated, pains that worsened through 2017. Eventually she was diagnosed with Cancer (of unknown primary) on 22nd September. She was moved to Severn Hospice and died peacefully - surrounded by family - on 9th October 2017 aged 47.
More details are available on the blog she set up: www.lorrainepattison.wordpress.com
and regular updates are posted there to let you know what we as a family are up to. Please subscribe to the blog to be kept in touch.
The hospice care was exemplary - both to Lorraine and her family and friends. We want to raise money for the Hospice so that they can continue their good work. They rely almost exclusively on donations and have running costs of around £10 million per year.
As a family we have donated £15,000 of Lorraine's Life Insurance, and have received donations of around £3,000 from the funeral and after.
Over 75 people participated in the Colour Run on Sunday 10th June 2018 as part of "Team Lorraine". We reached our initial fundraising target (THANK YOU!), but have left the page open for further donations.
On 19th May 2019 we will be doing the inaugural Severn Hospice Forget Me Not Walk (5km) in the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury. We have increased the fundraising goal a little bit - please give generously and help us raise vital funds for a magnificent cause in memory of a very special person. Xxx
