Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
At the end of July we will be walking the West Highland Way in memory of my dear father Ray, who sadly passed away on the 9th November 2011, after a courageous battle against Mesothelioma, an agressive form of lung cancer caused by exposure to Asbestos, contracted whilst working on the docks for over 30 years.
Stewart & I will be walking with my sister Anita, her husband Roy and son Ryan from Milngavie to Fort William, a distance of 154Km (96 miles) over 6 days. Hopefully by the end of the walk, we will have enough energy left to climb Ben Nevis also.
We would really appreciate your support for our Challenge as all money dontated in my dads memory 'The Raymond Holland Dock Workers Memorial Fund' will go towards much needed support and research into finding a cure for this terrible disease.
Mesothelioma can take many years to develop following exposure, and sadly the number of deaths caused are on the increase. Someone will die of Mesothelioma every 5 hours in the UK and it is estimated that by 2035 Mesothelioma will have claimed over a million lives.
Please support us with whatever you can afford and give us the encouragement we need to succeed in our challenge.
Thanking you in anticipation
