Story
In memory of Diane Maddaford
No Diane did not have dementia, she had all her faculties right to the end and was surrounded by love, the love of her husband, 6 children, son-in-laws and daughter -in-law, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Diane was a strong resilient lady who showed courage and determination in her life, coupled with her kindness and zest for life. She spent 53 years as a nurse, a huge part of her nursing career was caring for dementia patients. She saw how this illness robbed people of their lives, but no one died alone whilst in Diane and her nursing team's care. She saw the suffering and pain of the families who cared for their loved ones, the lack of resources to support these families, the constant daily battle to cope, Diane always provided kindness and support.
Dementia can affect anyone and any family, I personally have lost a loved one to this cruel illness. I have seen many of my friends who have lost loved ones, you know who you are and friends who are daily providing care. The daily battle of caring for a loved one, and the pain after a loved one has passed is inconsolable. Diane knew this which is why charities supporting dementia need your help.💜
Please support me as I step into the ring on Saturday 9th December at The Troxy, East London to fight for the Alzheimer’s society in memory of Daine Maddaford and all those who have lost their lives to dementia or currently suffering. 💜
