Story
Every year I hope to do a charity event, cycling around 400 miles in 5 days. I couldn't manage to fit one in last year, so I'm making up for it by doubling up the miles, plus a few more, to cycle from Lands End to John o'Groats. The pic above was the last time I cycled with most of the same bunch of fabulous ladies in the UK, Highlands, even had short hair then!! hair's longer now but the legs are still short! ha ha!!
I have been lucky in the last few years to travel to Madagascar and Borneo with these ladies & each visit I have been upset & concerned about the poverty and the distress through illness & disabilities we have seen there. In December 2019 I was fortunate to meet up in London, with the founder of Shuktara Trust (UK) David Earp, a textile designer who changed his way of life to live in Kolkata to care and take in disabled children who had been abandoned or orphaned, please read this link. https://shuktara.org/about-shuktara/
Whilst I know there are so many British charities (and I have certainly raised money for these in the past 20 years) I was drawn to Shuktara Trust (UK) because of the commitment, the energy, but most of all the love and the happiness you can see in the children's faces. With sponsorship they hope to make space for creating forever homes for them and I would love to be able to give them something....anything towards their goal.
So my plea is there, if you can help no matter how small, it all counts!
