We provide vital treatment, care & support to cancer patients and families in Wales

Story

We all know someone touched by cancer.

My mum, 83, is living proof that you can survive not just once, but twice, after being diagnosed with the disease two times over the past 12 years. And just this year my partner's mum fought her own battle with the disease.

Happily they are both still with us, but may not have been without the hospital treatment they both received. Velindre Cancer Centre is instrumental in helping cancer patients in Wales and when my friends told me about a fundraising trek to Patagonia, to help others beat cancer, I was first all ears, then on board.

The trip will be physically demanding: trekking with a backpack for up to 10 hours a day in unpredictable weather on all manner of terrain. Culturally it will be fascinating.

Patagonia is an area of Argentina colonised by the Welsh almost 150 years ago. But most importantly the trek is a way of raising cash for something that really matters.

Because with cancer it's not really a case of if, but when. It will affect all of us, in some way or another. Please donate and help Velindre make a difference. Thank you.
