Story
I will be taking on 2 challenges this year to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research.
My first Challenge of the year will be running the Manchester Marathon on April 16th! At the age of 48 this will be my first ever marathon and I am not lying when I say I am truly terrified with the task ahead. At the moment the distance of 26.2 miles seems almost incomprehensible to run, but I am determined to give it my best shot, no matter how long it takes me to get to that finish line I will cross it!
My second challenge will take place on 17th June when I will be joining some of the amazing ladies from Team Kat to climb Mount Snowdon. However in true Team Kat style we will not be taking the easy route, but will instead be undertaking the mammoth multi peak challenge which includes ascending 5 different summits Moel Elio, Foel Gron, Foel Goch and Moel Cynghorion and of course Snowdon itself. We will cover a total distance of 21.6km and a total ascent of 1608M.
As many of you may know my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer many years ago now, he was lucky enough have received excellent care from The Christie in Manchester and he has been cancer clear for many, many years. Because of this, this is a charity close to my heart.
1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. And this is doubled to 1 in 4 for black men. Prostate Cancer Research is determined to provide a better future than this. We need breakthrough treatments and better quality of care. Research is the only way we can turn this hope into a reality, which is why I am fundraising for world-class, pioneering scientists, to add years to life and life to years for people with the disease.
