Ashton’s Great Tommy Sleep Out, 1 February 2023
It's cold, it's dark, it's wet. Can you last the night? During the month of March, we are challenging you to join The Great Tommy Sleep Out. Sleep outside for one night to fundraise for RBLI and raise awareness for homeless ex-servicemen and women.

Story

I am swapping my bed for a sleeping bag to raise vital funds and awareness for over 6000 veterans that are experiencing homeless in the UK right now. With every penny raised, Royal British Legion Industries can provide safe, warm housing and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to gain employment, regardless of health conditions or disability. Please help me to raise much needed funds for this incredible cause.

It’s that time of year again, when Ashton pulls out his tent and lives under the stars raising much needed funds & awareness for homeless veterans. This year he has committed to 100 nights, starting the 1st February 2023.

Last year he endured temperatures of -6°, snow, wind and food poisoning to name some of his challenges but he managed 63 consecutive nights raising nearly £3500.

As an active member of the air cadets and having had many family members in the forces, the RBLI is a charity close to his heart with veterans receiving amazing support. No one deserves to be sleeping rough rough let alone veterans.

When asked why is he participating in The Great Tommy SleepOut for the 3rd year running he stated “I have chosen to sleepout, our homeless veterans haven’t had that choice. They signed up and served in our forces but once leaving the support wasn’t there. The transition from military life to civilian life isn’t easy and strains are put on everyone. Service men & women have put their life’s on the line supporting our country it’s time we supported them in their hour of need”.

This year, this plucky 13yr old is planning on living in his tent for a minimum of 100 nights. Please donate what you can through either his official fundraiser below or through his just giving page. 100% of everything raised goes directly to supporting veterans
