Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.  In November 2019 I will be walking out of my comfort zone and walking up to 7 hours per day for 5 consecutive days (“I can hear something rattling; oh! That’s the screw that’s come loose in my head.”).  Joking aside this trek will find me pushing my endurance and stamina level to its limits in the heat of the Cambodian jungle and paddy fields.

Why would I put myself through this?  I feel very passionately about human trafficking and slavery. Doing this trek will force me to handle hardships, nursing sore feet,  no comfy bed and I won't be able to bail out because I've had enough. I will be hiking to remote villages, sleeping in tents with only the use of very basic amenities (trust me I don't know how I am going to cope),  but my little suffering can not compare to what vulnerable victims of modern day slavery and human trafficking have endured.

I am seeking donations for the benefit of The Salvation Army Social Work Trust, a registered charity number 215174. A percentage of the funds I raise will cover the cost of participating in the trip. The precise amount deducted is dependent on the size of the group as a whole. It is estimated that the amount deducted will be £1,533 based on a group size of 30. However, this may reduce if the group is larger, or increase if the group is smaller, but in no circumstances will the amount deducted be more than £1,967 .

Please give what you can...

  • £10 will buy a gift pack of toiletries, notebook and pen, purse or wallet with which to welcome a victim into a safe house
  • £20 will buy a bus pass to enable a survivor of trafficking to begin the process of re- engaging with normal daytime activities
