Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided at the age of 47 to run my first ever half marathon and will be taking part in the Great Manchester Run on the 22 May. I won’t lie, I’m a little scared but I am determined to get to that finish line.
I am running for Young Minds as I believe the mental health of so many children and young people is suffering at the moment, exacerbated by the difficulties of the world we are currently living in. I hear accounts on a frequent basis, both first hand and in the media, about how our children and young peoples are struggling with their mental health and how they are having difficulties coping with challenges of everyday life. Having 2 young children of my own I am constantly aware of how they are affected by the world we are living in and how this impacts their mental well being. Young Minds provides advice, information and guidance on mental health and mental health services to parents and to young people who are struggling with their mental health.
From the Young Minds Website:
“We want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health, and all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what”
Running has been a life saver for me personally during the pandemic, it has improved my health both mentally and physically and it has enabled me to cope with the stresses of everyday life during a really difficult time. If I can use my running to help others with their mental health then that can only be a good thing ☺️
