Story
I'm supporting Danny's Dandelion Appeal by entering as many events as I can! I set out this year with the mission of completing the Great South Run but now I'm aiming to do even more and hopefully raise some money for a cause very close to my heart. I want to raise money and awareness for a condition that very few people know about, Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
Arthur is my best friend's son and like family to us. I still remember being in the hospital the day Margaux and her family had the scan that diagnosed his condition. I remember the fear in her eyes that day and bravery of a mother trying to keep it together for her little boy. Arthur was diagnosed with LCH at 2 and a half years old after having a bump on his head that wouldn’t go away. The road to the diagnosis was long because most doctors don’t know much about the condition and they all thought it was a cyst. The lump was the first tumour and was removed surgically leaving a large hole in his skull. Arthur then developed a further growth in June 2019, he had another tumour on his tibia and underwent chemotherapy combined with a cocktail of other medications. Unfortunately this year after battling hard and going from strength to strength and coming to the end of his gruelling treatment Arthur developed more tumours and is once again undergoing chemotherapy. He is only 7 years old and faces the challenges of his condition with the biggest smile and unwavering strength. He is full of so much love and joy. His parents live in constant fear of what the condition will throw at him next but they show the most inspirational resilience that I cannot imagine being able to muster myself.
I am completing events for Arthur and Danny's Dandelion Appeal, a charity that raises funds and awareness for LCH - please support me if you can.
