Story
My grandmother, Josephine Cooper, lost her sight during surgery at the age of 34. At the time, she had three children under the age of six and a successful career as a psychiatrist.
With the incredible support of her family, friends and the RNIB, Jo returned to work and continued to do all that she loved. I grew up with stories of her hikes in the Peak District, legendary parties, cross-continent adventures, and consultancy exams passed against all odds.
Visits to my grandparents were soundtracked by jazz and talking books, which were sent by the RNIB and were often the source of great amusement (she must have subscribed to the comedies!).
This October, I'm running the London Marathon in Jo's memory to raise money for the RNIB. With your sponsorship, the RNIB can continue to support more people who have lost their sight, bring joy through the latest 'Talking Books' bestseller, and help to create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
Thanks for your support - I'll be thinking of you and Jo with each mile!
