Story
In 2019, my brother Hayden took his own life. He was 19.
Hayden was an extremely complex, sensitive person on the cusp of adulthood. One day, for reasons still unknown to us, he decided it was all too much.
A loss so sudden and so unexpected is a strange thing to describe. For a long time I felt so removed from the world because... well... it just carried on spinning? I haven't fundraised and I haven't attended gatherings because I didn't know how to. I didn't know how to 'celebrate' the life of someone who hadn't really lived yet.
Now, 3 years on, I've decided that has to change. My brother was amazing. I know it. You all know it. So let's celebrate that and raise some big bucks for an amazing charity in his name!
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives, and 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. From advice on their site, through to free, confidential chats with helpline staff, online or on the phone, they're there for whoever needs them, every day. No matter what.
£8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call, but any donation, big or small, is appreciated so much.
Thank you
