Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July 2010 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I am now working with the Urology Foundation to create and support a scholarship fund for specialist urology nurses to support them in studying up to MSc level in cancer care.
We think this may be a unique initiative, and it draws on the superb level of nursing care I had a Guy's Hospital and particularly the professionalism of Netty Kinsella, lead prostate cancer nurse. Netty has completed an MScin Advanced Cancer Care at Kin's (the academic side of Guy's) and acknowledges that it has added hugely to her skills.
We need more like Netty - prostate cancer is the most common male cancer with over 35,000 new diagnoses every year, and 10,000 die from it every year. Highly skilled nurses will support all men, help reduce the death rate and make all those living with the illness feel much more supported when they need help.
