Falklands Forty Challenge, 4 May 2022
During May, we are challenging you to cover 40 miles, alone or as part of a team, you can choose how to go the distance and how long to take. The Falklands Forty Challenge will raise vital funds to support vulnerable veterans.

Story

In 1983 as a Captain in the RADC I served with 16 Field Ambulance for two years following its return to Aldershot after the conflict. It provided essential front line medical support to the task force  throughout the hostilities.  Three members of the unit including the 2i/c were killed on RFA Sir Galahad at Fitzroy when it was attacked by Argentine aircraft, along with 45 crew and  soldiers mostly from the Welsh Guards.

I am taking on The Falklands Forty Challenge to mark the 40th anniversary of the end of the Falklands War and I plan to cycle the 40 miles.  I live in Huddersfield in the midst of the Pennines where there is not a flat bit of tarmac to be seen.  Although I have an eBike this will still be a challenge as I aim to do it in one ride which I have no doubt will push me and my bike to the limit!

With every penny raised, Royal British Legion Industries can provide safe, warm housing and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to gain employment, regardless of health conditions or disability. Please help me to raise much-needed funds for this incredible cause.
