Hi everyone, here is my story!
On 31st May 2016, a tumour had been found in my bowel and it was suspected to be Cancer. Within a couple of weeks I was told it was advanced cancer that had spread to my liver.
Just over a year later... I've had 12 sessions of chemotherapy, 5 sessions of radio therapy, 3 operations (colostomy insertion, liver resection, anterior resection & ileostomy), 4 MRI scans, 5 CT scans, a bunch of X-rays and more blood tests than I can count.
#kickingcancersbutt was my favourite hash tag to update my friends and family throughout my treatment. On the 12th June 2017 I was happy to announce the new tag of #KICKEDcancersbutt having been given the all clear from my latest scans.
So many people and organisations have helped me over this last year and are ultimately the reason I'm still here! Now its time to give a little bit back.
On Saturday 9th September 2017 I'll be leaving the Lands End visitors centre, packed with all the necessary camping gear for a weeks' long motorbike ride all the way to John O'Groats. I'll be using my slow/low powered 125cc motorbike. I'm still on L plates so the ride will be long and slow, sticking to the back roads to avoid busy towns and motorways.
Also to add to the fun along the ride I still have my stoma/ileostomy bag! I'm not going to let it get in the way of doing anything!
I've set up this just giving page for anyone that might want to sponsor me on this crazy little bike adventure, all the money will be going to Beating Bowel Cancer charity. With over 40,000 new cases of Bowel cancer in the uk every year, this charity does loads of work to support patients, nurses and promote awareness of bowel cancer.
Many thanks for all your support, see you on the road soon!
