Story
Having been postponed in 2020, July 2022 brings a new challenge to Jennifer Rands’ radar. On the 20th July I will set out to cycle 300 miles from London to Paris over 4 consecutive days.
Now, I am either passing through my quarter life crisis or simply upping the stakes for personal achievement as I reach my thirties! Whatever the reason I see this ride to be the perfect (possibly painful) challenge for me to undertake and to help fight dementia!
Humour aside,
Dementia devastates lives.
The number of people with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase to over 1 million in 2021 and over 2 million by 2051. I personally have seen how heartbreaking the condition can be having lost my Grandad to this cruel disease at end of 2018. The sooner a cure is found the better, until then every penny will help to continue the great care and research Alzheimer's Society carry out.
The challenge endures four consecutive days on the bike, cycling an average of 80miles a day. Starting in Blackheath, London, I will pass through the picturesque Kent countryside, and cross the Channel at Dover. The ride then continues through small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France through to the finish line at the iconic Eiffel Tower! I have always loved cycling so I am determined to make this a challenge to remember, whilst raising awareness for Alzheimer's Society.
I will keep you posted with regular updates throughout my training and the journey to completing my challenge. Any amount of donation will be greatly appreciated, so I thank you in advance for all your love and support!
