London to Glasgow · 3 September 2008
I have had to watch Cancer affect many family members, friends and loved ones already too many times in my short life time and Macmillan have helped many of them throught their times.
With my youth and health on my sides there has never been a more perfect time to endevour on such a challenge,so i did. The walk itself has had many ups and downs up till now and i'm not just talking about all the hills. The Pennine Way was an amazing expirence and hope to do sections of it again. Some views will be stuck in my head for years to come. The whole walk was between 6 and 7 hundred miles and some days i was walking up to 9 hours a day trying to cover as much ground as possible.
Many nights i have been exhausted and was in tremendous pain but i have finally finish and all the blisters have been worth while. I arrived in George Square, Glasgow with a crowd of over 40 people including STV (Scottish TV) with a camera who interviwed me and i was included in the news in Scotland. I have also been interviwed by a few radio stations in and around Glasgow.
The walk started on th 17th July 2009 from Centre Point, London and i arrived in George Square, Glasgow 37 days later on the 22nd August 2009.
The table below maps out the days of my journey, the majority of which are along the two long distance national trails; The Heart of England Way and The Pennine Way.
