Story
My name is Brian Rose and I'm the Founder & Host of London Real. For the past eight years I've broadcasted over 500 game-changing conversations from our London studio to over 100 million people around the world.
In 2018 I competed in my very first Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
One of my guests, John Joseph, front man for the hardcore punk band the Cro-Mags, challenged me to do it! At 55 years old he's a finisher of nine full Ironmans including two on the world renowned Kona, Hawaii course.
And since John has been vegan for 37 years he's challenged me to do it on a 100% Plant-Based diet!
But this wasn't just about a race or a diet. John was really pushing me to confront the demons I thought I had forgotten surrounding my struggle with addiction, which culminated in a near-death experience with heroin in New York City in 2001.
That's why I decided to raise money for the Addaction charity - they do incredible work. Addaction is one of the UK's leading mental health, drug and alcohol charities. They work with adults and young people, in community settings, in prisons, in residential rehab and through outreach. In 2017 they supported 140,000 people.
Addaction say "We empower people to be successful, to make positive changes and to take back control over their lives." - at London Real, that's what we want too and why we're still raising money to help them on their mission.
