Story
On the 8th April 2020 our wonderful dad passed away. He had suffered with both Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's for a number of years. Dementia not only took our dad's life prematurely but it also robbed him of the person he used to be. To see his decline was painful to witness, which is why we are passionate about walking in his memory to raise money for the Alzheimer's society.
I will be walking with my sister Debbie and my great friend Monica who also lost sadly lost her father this year to this terrible disease. We are walking as a team for our Unforgettable Fathers.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this.
Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise. So, who will you walk for? #MemoryWalk
