Story
Bling Bling Mermaids decends on NYC
Hi Everyone!
My name is Alicia and I have a wonderful 5 year old daughter named Jessica. Now Jessica loves all things Mermaid :
Books,Videos,drawings,dolls ...you name it and she's got it.
So, what's the next step? Unfortunately I don't know a magic conjuring sea witch that can turn her into a real mermaid but I know of the next best thing. Every year NYC hosts it's annual Mermaid Parade and I plan to take her there to fulfill her wish to be a mermaid..even if it's just for the day.
Thousands decend at Coney Island as a celebration to all things merlike. Participants decorate themselves for the chance to be Neptune , a mermaid or any aquatic creature for the title of best in show. It's glitter , boobs and antiques cars ....fun for all the family on a hot summer's day in NYC.
This trip is a special trip as we hope to raise money for this wonderful charity while having fun doing so. GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital) offers leading edge life saving care to a variety of paediatric specialities. As a paediatric nursing student , I've always admired the work and dedication that GOSH and it's charity campaigns for . As a mother, it's reassuring that GOSH is one of the most prestigious British hospitals in paediatric medicine.
I hope to be pedicab peddling my way around the parade. Our entry will be as the Bling , Bling mermaids . Jessica and my mum will be looking glam as pink mermaid and I will be their seahorse...see !! now that's worth a shilling or two to see that!! 3 generations of lunacy for a great cause. So come on donate!
All funds donated to this great site go towards GOSH. No money donated will fund our trip that will be out of my pocket in the hopes that you wonderful folks out there will dig into yours for GOSH!!
