Story
In February my cousin Henry tragically made the decision to end his own life. The loss of Henry has been the worst thing my family and I have ever faced. Henry was an amazing character: absolutely hilarious, keenly observant, and incredibly kind. He was an integral part of my family and life without him is incredibly difficult.
I am determined to do something positive in memory of Henry so I am running the London Marathon with #TeamSamaritans in Henry’s name.
Samaritans is a fantastic charity that saves lives. My first interaction with Samaritans was at HMP Send where I was struck by the dedication and compassion of the volunteers. Every 10 seconds Samaritans responds to a call for help. They offer listening and support, without judgment or pressure, day and night over the phone, and also via email, letter, or in person. They also provide people with ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. I am so pleased to be supporting Samaritans and am excited to challenge myself in the marathon.
Losing Henry has been unbearably painful, a pain I would not wish upon anyone. I would really appreciate any support you might be able to give at this difficult time, joining Samaritans and me in Henry’s name.
