Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In December 2005 my mam was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease; in October 2006 she lost her fight and we lost our mam.
MND is a cruel, progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones or nerves, leaving messages unable to reach the muscles which gradually waste. It can leave people unable to walk, talk, eat, drink and ultimately breathe. The brain remains unaffected. There is currently no treatment, no cure. The average lifespan after diagnosis is 14 months.
The MND Association help sufferers and families by providing support and information, practical help such as equipment to help people lead their lives as normally as possible, and research to work towards ultimately finding a cure.
I want to help them with this, and am running the London Marathon in memory of my mam. She was full of life & spirit (wasn't always dressed as a punk though, honest!) and I miss her. What she went through and the spirit in which she did it has inspired me to keep running, and keep fundraising, so that hopefully one day we will have a cure for this awful disease. Please help me to do this!
