Story
Louisa & I started running a few months after we had given birth. We decided to do the couch to 5k app. When we started running we couldn't run for 2 mins without stopping. We struggled for breath and our legs ached so badly. We persevered and managed to complete the course. We went on to run our first 5km, our first 5 mile run, our first 10km and then in order to raise funds for a friends poorly child we ran our first ever half marathon (and vowed never again!).
After dropping back on our running, battling injury and our fitness nosediving over the following 18 months we decided to set out sights on another half marathon as a big challenge. We completed Lacock Half Marathon in June 2019 and it was the hardest thing we have ever done. We completed our largest elevation ever and a combination of the hills, three laps and multi terrain meant that we really pushed to the limit to complete the course.
Just a few weeks before we did this we found out that we had both secured places in the London Marathon 2020 running for blind veterans. That was a very surreal phone call I can tell you. We are both very passionate about this cause, Louisa working for the charity and myself with military links within my family.
I'm sure you agree that veterans give so much of themselves for our country they deserve the utmost respect, to have served for our country and then lost their sight must have a profound effect on their life. If running DOUBLE what I have struggled to do will mean we can raise funds for this amazing charity then I am more then happy to do so.
It is an honour and a privilege to be able to do something that gives something back to these amazing people. I just hope I can get to the finish!
