Story

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last April. Thanks to early detection and surgery, I am now cancer free. Many men aren’t so lucky. That’s why I’m running the London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK — to raise funds, raise awareness, and help save lives. Please support me if you can.

Last April, I heard the words no one ever wants to hear:

“You have prostate cancer.”

I felt fit. Healthy. Symptom-free.

What started as a routine annual health check turned into an MRI, a biopsy — and then a diagnosis.

Last July, I underwent 3.5 hours of robotic surgery to remove my prostate. The best news followed: the cancer was contained. It hadn’t spread. My PSA is now negligible.

For now, I am cancer free — words I will never take for granted.

I know how lucky I am. I caught this early because I have access to annual health checks through work. Many men aren’t as fortunate.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.

• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime

• For men of African or Caribbean heritage, it’s 1 in 4

Too often, it’s found too late.

That’s why I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for Prostate Cancer UK.

I want to:

• Fund vital research

• Support men and families going through treatment

• Raise awareness so more men take a simple PSA test that could save their life

In 2015, I ran the New York Marathon and swore I’d never do another. But this diagnosis gave me a new purpose. I’m running for the men who won’t get the early call I did. I’m running so more families get good news.

If my story persuades even one man to get checked, it will have been worth it.

If you’re able to donate — whatever the amount — I would be incredibly grateful. Every pound makes a difference.

Thank you, genuinely, for reading and for supporting me. Let’s turn this into something positive — and help save lives.
