Amy's London Marathon

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
In April 2025, I’ll be running the London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. Please read on to find out why.
Think of eight men you know. Statistically, one of them will develop prostate cancer. Someone’s chances can be even higher than 1 in 8, depending on ethnicity and family history.
If left unchecked, prostate cancer can spread to other areas such as the bones and the lymphatic system. The symptoms can be treated, but advanced prostate cancer cannot currently be cured.
This is my grandfather, Bern. He loves mountains, gardening, books, music, rugby and history.
Bern has always been a big presence in my life. He read me stories as a child, took me walking up mountains as a teenager, and supported me on my professional journey as an adult. He has met many of my friends and my partner, and even gave a reading at our civil partnership ceremony.
Bern has advanced prostate cancer. For several years, he has dealt with the uncertainties and pain of the cancer and the side effects of the treatments which have been available to him. He is now vocal about the importance of getting potential prostate issues checked and raising awareness.
I’m raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, which funds research, campaigns and supports people affected by prostate cancer. I also hope to raise awareness of the condition so that other men (and people with prostates) are more aware of their own risk and get diagnosed early enough to avoid advanced prostate cancer.
I would be very grateful for any donations towards my fundraiser, and I’d also really appreciate if you could share my page and raise awareness about prostate cancer among your own friends and family.
Thank you.
