Story
Hi all, following some blood in my pee (funnily enough after a long run) and subsequent tests (don't ask!) I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer earlier this year.
After surgery to remove the Cancer tumour (I was told it was an inch across), I am now on the road to recovery. I'm pleased to say my first two post op tests were clear so it's full steam ahead with this!
It's something like 1 in 8 men who will get PC in their lifetime, but it affects far more men and women's lives, nearly everyone I talk to about it knows someone who has had it.
As a keen runner, some good news to come out of this is that Prostate Cancer UK have given me a London Marathon place - as long as i can raise the required money.
I'll be training for the Marathon for my own physical recovery and mental health. It also gives me a chance to give back to an organisation that supported me through a very tough time.
The money raised will help fund awareness campaigns and lifesaving research as well as providing support for men and their families affected by Prostate Cancer. I personally know how valuable this is.
