Story
I'm running 220km across the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan.
Over 5 days, myself and 140 other competitors will run on average more than a marathon a day, across sand in temperatures reaching 35 degrees.
1 year ago I was watching Lawrence of Arabia with my dad, when a friend asked me about this race in Jordan. The film is set in the Wadi Rum, and although at that stage I hadn't even raced a half marathon I was inspired to do it. When I told my dad he was very excited and asked if I would be raising money for prostate cancer.
He died 5 months later, and it's pretty heartbreaking not being able to share the adventures I've had since then. But I feel a sense of achievement for the physical efforts I've put my body through, and am buoyed by people's kindness, love and generosity (thanks to people's donations I was the top fundraiser for Prostate cancer at the London marathon).
He was incredibly brave, and had every treatment imaginable. The invaluable research that goes on behind the scenes, means others will be much more lucky.
I know people are always looking for sponsorship, but any amount little or small will make the world of difference for people going through this terrible disease, as well as people yet to face it.
Much love,
Brodie
