Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's thousands of dads, grandads, partners, brothers, uncles, sons and mates. But it doesn't have to be this way. The money you raise will help fund lifesaving research into better tests and treatments

Story

I am a terrible runner (see photo in the gallery section!). The truth is, I'm not a runner at all - I can merely jog a little and so a half-marathon will be no fun for me (I'm dreading it to be honest). But I'm doing it because recently I have had to learn about the impact of prostate cancer on sufferers, their partners and their families. I was shocked at how severe the impact of the condition can be, how fast the cancer can spread and yet how limited the treatment options are. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, yet there is currently no workable means of screening, meaning it is often detected late. The treatments are incredibly harsh and have appalling, often long-term, side effects. I'm therefore raising money to help fund lifesaving research, improve the treatments and support men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
