Story
I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. MY STORY On Sunday 7th April 2024, I will be running London Landmarks half marathon, in support of prostate cancer, a charity that has become very close to my heart recently. In July 23 my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This was very tough for us as a family to digest. As with most people, you do not understand the impact cancer has, until it affects you. My Dad has been nothing but positive since being diagnosed and undergoes his operation/ treatment in the upcoming weeks. My Dad climbed Kilimanjaro at the start of the year and he SMASHED it to raise money for charity. This really shows how much of a determined person he is. So........ now it is my turn to take on a challenge to raise money for prostate cancer. If my Dad can climb Kilimanjaro at the age of 62 then surely I can run a few miles whilst seeing the sights of London!! My Dad is the most caring person you will ever meet and would do anything for anyone. I know with his determination, he WILL beat cancer! I will be starting my training soon with the aim to prove that the mind can overcome anything. If you see me out running, please don't worry I'm not being chased!! If any of my friends would like to join me with the training and run a few miles, please let me know. I also want this to spread awareness of prostate cancer to others. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. The money raised will help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer. Thank you for taking the time to read my JustGiving page and if you can spare any pennies I would be very grateful. Love Jo xx
