Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. My name is Weronika Kurpinska, I am Assistant People Manager at Loizou Restaurants. In my role, I often walk distances between our restaurants ranging from 1.4 to 2 miles, and often I hear: How can you do this? Simply. Since I remember, I have loved walking, thanks to my nana. She has been the one to walk fast, and I, as a child, was trying to keep up, jogging a bit. So now, I want to thank her for our walks and remind her of when she visited me in London two years ago, and we enjoyed our 10k walks and half-marathons in central London while she was 81. If my nana only could, she would have joined me indeed, probably not to walk the full marathon, but who knows, she is a stubborn, strong and proud lady, and she would do anything to support those who need it the most.

I join the challenge for the pleasure of walking, so I don’t set myself any time target. If you think my effort to walk a full marathon during London Winter Walk 2022 is worthy of support, thank you a million for even the most minor contribution for RMHC.
