Story
As a mature transgender woman i have been met with hostility and rudeness within my local community, personally i am strong enough to deal with narrow minded people but not everyone else is, therefore i know that when someone is strugling to cope with their gender identity, having someone they can reach out too for support be it emotional or otherwise is essential, a charity is the logical first step. Without funding charities struggle to exist, and with that in mind and after some positive reinforcement from friends and family I chose to undertake an extended stream to raise money and awareness of the gender issues that are faced within the greater community on a daily basis. Streaming has become a large part of my life over the last 12 months, both streaming myself and watching other streamers from the LGBTQIA+ community, I give praise and support to all. This will be my first extended stream and I am aiming to stream for up to 24 hours and at least a minimum of 12 hours, this should give ample opportunity for people to donate to a charity and cause that is exceptionally close to my heart.
the charirty is called chrysalis gender identity matters
Chrysalis works throughout the South Coast region with transgender individuals and their significant others, in a variety of ways, to ensure that people who are exploring their gender identity are provided with the help and support they need. One of our organisational key strategic aims is to reduce isolation and marginalisation of people with gender identity issues by providing support and advice, in order for them to be better placed to participate in mainstream society. We help build connections by working with local volunteers, agencies, and counsellors to provide a breadth of support; life-skills, workshops, and facilitated groups, alongside offering peer support.Chrysalis provides training to local businesses, individuals and community groups, to aid understanding in the general population about the difficulties trans people face and to ensure they are not excluded as well as assisting with advocacy, when necessary. Please support our work today!
