I will lose at least 2.6 stones · 27 April 2020 ·

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

3 mums of oncology patients have come together for the same challenge as part if the 2.6 charity challenge. Our aim is to lose a specific amount of weight by the date of the rescheduled London Marathon (4 October) all with the common goal of becoming fitter, healthier and most importantly raising funds for 3 charities close to our hearts. Birmingham Children’s Hospital who have treated all of our children, Cure Leukaemia and The Grace Kelly Childrens Cancer Trust. After talking to many oncology parents we discovered that weight gain is common; when your child is diagnosed, many months spent in hospitals eating convenience foods because thats really the only option combined with inactivity due to sitting around in hospitals has a negative impact on our health & weight, us 3 like many others have struggled ever since to get back to where we should be. This really will be a challenge for us as none of us find it easy to lose weight...especially whilst shielding through the lockdown. However, we are committed! Wish us luck! Thank you X
