Story

Hi All. My name is Debbie Gilbey & my Mum, Gillian Gilbey has been in Royal Papworth Hospital since 4th April, fighting against Covid 19. As a way of expressing sheer gratitude to all the staff at Papworth Hospital, I will be LIVE streaming 12 hours of fitness related classes & exercises.

Mum, Gillian Gilbey starting becoming ill on Friday 27th although she was adamant that she was fine & there was nothing to worry about.

By Thursday 2nd April Mum was placed in a medically induced coma attached to fully invasive tubing to help the lungs while fighting Covid19.
Following an oxygen incident at Watford General on Sat 4th April, Mum was transferred to Papworth Hospital.

On Thursday 9th April they tried Mum without the sedation which resulted in a tracheosomy tube & mum being re-sedated.
They turned the sedation off for a 2nd time on 11th April. Mum is responding well to the trach tube which is connected to the ventilator & she is drawing her own breaths.

Sadly at present Mum is not waking up properly, nor does she have any movement on the right side of her body. The hospital has done CT scans & an echocardiogram which hasn't flagged up anything untoward.

Edit* 18th April - Mum is now off the ventilator & currently breathing on her own with the trach tube & a face mask connected to oxygen. Mum is making some minor, albeit weak movements now. Mum is still very drowsy & confused.

My event will be live streamed on www.facebook.com/enhancefitnessacademy1 where for 12 Hours I shall be doing different fitness related activities & exercise classes for you to join in with!
