Dora, Cilla and Clara all once knew just a few feet of concrete as their home. They lived in puppy farms, kept solely to provide puppies for the lucrative trade in dogs. They were given the bare minimum to survive. When rescued all came out with extensive signs of neglect and in Clara's case, unknown to the puppy farmer she was carrying a litter of 10 puppies. She went on to deliver them safely but almost lost her life in the process. Cilla was blind when rescued and received specialist, double cataract surgery. This was partially successful, restoring good sight in one eye. Unfortunately, the other wasn't a success and due to complications and pressure in it, 4 years after the original operation, it will be removed.
All are typical examples of recipients of Schnauzerfest support. Schnauzerfest provides financial assistance which makes it possible to provide this kind of extensive, expensive veterinary care.
