Story
We are Jo, Scott, Natalie and Martin, a group of runners from Stone that have set ourselves a challenge that is well outside of our comfort zones!!! (But nothing compared to what our front line workers and carers are going through at the moment)!!!
We want to do something positive in the midst of the crazy current situation that we all find ourselves in at the moment.
We will attempt to run for a longer time and for more miles than we have ever done in any event we have ever participated in.
We will run for 12 hours - the length of an average NHS worker’s shift. We will each run for 3 hours covering around 18 miles EACH in distance.
This will take place in our local area and we will of course respect the rules of social distancing.
We are raising money for a local cause - The Community Foundation for Staffordshire.
An appeal has been launched to raise funds in order to support communities across the county that have been affected by Covid - 19.
Across Staffordshire, many people are being advised to isolate themselves from their families in order to limit the spread of Covid-19. This means that a large number of vulnerable people have now been isolated and do not have access to their support services that many cannot do without.
Those organisations that support vulnerable members of our communities are finding it difficult to operate due to themselves being isolated and this has placed further strains on their work. This fund aims to support those organisations and ensures that we are helping those who have become isolated and lost access to support and vital services.
We would be grateful to anyone who can sponsor us and any funds we make will be matched by Microsoft AND City Fibre !!
