We provide opportunities to make a difference

Story

A few years ago we were thinking about innovation and how we could improve as a company. We knew that if we want to be the best then we must do things that no one else is.

Thanks to inspiration from our network the Local Gardens Ball was born. It was a great way for us to give back and thank our clients for their loyal custom but it was missing just one thing, a great cause to support.

We already had a good relationship with the greatest club in Stockport ;) (S.C.F.C.) and we knew about the amazing work the foundation carried out in the local school as I (Blake) was once a student in the program many moons back.

What we didn't know, but was soon to learn, was how amazing and inspirational the disability program was. Here's a few word from Adrian Rigby-Bates, Disability and Mental Health Officer for Stockport County Community Foundation.

“Over the past 9 months charities such as ours have faced significant challenges with the COVID19 pandemic which has meant that little or no funds have been raised with a drastic reduction in our voluntary contributions. This evening we really need your help to make a positive difference in our community.

Therefore, we hope to raise much needed funds through your kind donations which will support our Disability and Mental Health Programme to be able to support the most vulnerable people in our local community. Your support is absolutely vital to us as a charity to continue our provision and groups that benefit local people who are vulnerable and in need. Our programme is vast and reaches out supporting nearly 500 children, young people and adults in the Stockport area with a range of physical and learning disabilities, mental illness, dementia and complex needs to engage with physical and social wellbeing activities to promote a healthy lifestyle. Our provision now includes weekly football/multisport coaching sessions and tournaments for children and young adults living with disabilities and mental illness, a walking football group for senior citizens and those with dementia and a weekly drop-in “Sport in Memories” Social Wellbeing Group for people with mental illness, experiencing loneliness and living with social isolation.

Your donations will help support the costs of our weekly events, training and venue hire, new equipment, our social wellbeing programme of activities including Art and Yoga therapy, refreshments, and coaching costs.

Thank you very much for your support, its gratefully received!”
