There's a few of us doing a greater Manchester walk from north to south on the 15th of October to raise money for this worthy cause!
Thank you all for your kind donations.... I'm currently living off a £1 a day to raise awareness for Ethiopiaid. Having to make a few adjustments such as walk to work/ not buy new clothes and live on rations!
Here's a little more information on the charity and what I'll be doing:
I will be travelling to Ethiopia in November this year to carry out charity work. Visitng these special projects and offering our services: HOPE, Addis Development Vision (ADV),Fistula Hospital,House of Angels/Missionaries of Charity. In order to do this I am required to raise £2000 to benefit the charity.
Ethiopiaid is a registered charity (Charity Registration No. 802353 ) with objectives to, relieve poverty and sickness to preserve and protect health and to advance education amongst Ethiopians who are in need. Ethiopia is one of the world's poorest countries, and relies on overseas aid and the work of charities in order to provide basic services. Just £100 will provide one of these children with breakfast and schooling for an entire year.
£80 will provide someone who has lost a limb to polio with a prosthetic limb, enabling them to work.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In December 2011, I'm venturing with a team from work (Reed Specialist Recruitment) to support individuals who are less fortunate in Ethiopia. I'll be teaching English and IT as part of this Year's Ethiopiaid Challenge.
Ethiopiaid was founded in 1989 by Professor Alec Reed (Chairman of the Reed Recruitment Family of Companies), who visited Ethiopia in the late 1980's and was incredibly moved by the suffering he saw there. Under the patronage of Reed Executive, Ethiopiaid was established to give everyone the opportunity to make a difference.
To date, Ethiopiaid has donated over £20 million to partner projects in Ethiopia. Currently we are working with 20 dedicated partner projects and we aim to donate approximately £2 million to these deserving causes each year. Poverty and hardship in Ethiopia is still extreme but with your help we can continue to give hope for the future to a country with a tragic past.
