Story
Seven of us are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2021 for Caritas Anchor House.
Caritas Anchor House is a homeless charity providing accommodation and support to single homeless adults in the London Borough of Newham. The charity's driving mission is to ensure that those who walk through their doors grow in confidence and move towards leading independent, self-fulfilling lives by providing education, guidance and personal rehabilitation.
- Jose Daniel - "I am Jose Daniel a Mechanical engineer and Filmmaker passionate for sports. I ran my first race 9 years ago and since then I have run and participated in many races. I loved how everyone is supporting each other. At this time I am going to be running my 2nd Half marathon and I am more than happy to make it, even more in my first time supporting a good causes and helping others".
- Andy Lewis - "I'm Deputy Headteacher at St Bonaventure's, Forest Gate and have worked with Caritas Anchor House for many years via TELCO / Newham Citizens. Sadly I see the impact that housing issues have on the families at our school and wider community and so want to make sure we do everything we can to tackle the problem. I haven't run a half marathon race in a few years, and I will be aiming for a new Personal Best in this one! I'm already training hard."
- James Mackay – "I was born and raised in Newham, and from an early age volunteered to help the (too) many homeless of our borough with the Franciscan Friars in Canning Town. As parish priest in Custom House, I served the homeless of our area and witnessed the struggle of those too often forgotten. I am proud to participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Caritas Anchor House, which works not just to provide materially for those most in need, but works with them so that they may grow in confidence and skill to do support themselves. Please give generously. My personal best is 1:42.31. I aim to beat that at this half-marathon, and if I do, why don’t you double your donation?!"
