Everest in the Alps · 5 November 2021

We’re leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. We’re here to make sure children and young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. Join our fight.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of you will have heard of the Everest in the Alps
challenge, started by  Rob and Tans Ritchie, turning the
awful trauma of their son, Toby’s brain tumour diagnosis when he was 5 into something so positive - both from a fundraising perspective, but also from a true endurance challenge perspective. From that, Everest in the Lakes has been spawned: https://www.everestinthealps.com/everest-in-the-lakes/

Hiking, not ski-touring; in the Lakes, not the Alps; in the autumn, not the spring – ascending 4500m (half the height of Everest – so as a pair, you ‘conquer’ it) over 2 days.  For reference; Scarfell Pike is 978m, so its a lot of climbing per day, between 10-12 hours!!

I am raising money for Youngminds charity.  I will be travelling and participating in this event over the funeral weekend of a beautiful, fun, young, vibrant women called Lorna.  Her chosen charity for us to support was Youngminds, so naturally I am in.

We all know that the mental health of the young has suffered immeasurably by the pandemic (as if it wasn’t bad enough already)and as a family we have had a small window into living with mental health problems and it is not easy, so I am fully behind this.  Anything that can be done to help should be done.  The more places there are to turn to, the better.    I will be walking, talking, hurting and thinking and your donations will definitely help!

Please donate and help me climb.
