Story
I’m planning on popping out for a wee jog to help build a new hospice for St Ann’s.
On 10th June, I’ll be taking part in the Stanza Stones Ultra – a 50 mile linear route with over 6600 ft of ascent, starting at Marsden, West Yorkshire and finishing in Ilkley. As well lots of lovely moorland scenery, I’ll get my dose of culture passing through Haworth (home of the Bronte sisters) as well as the Stanza Stones inscribed with poems by Simon Armitage.
St Ann’s Hospice has been caring for people in Greater
Manchester and Cheshire for more than half a century and desperately needs a new, purpose-built hospice. Whilst the care provided to patients and their families is fantastic the current building is not. At 150 years old, the building was not purpose built as a hospice and now requires regular and costly maintenance which will only become more challenging in the future. The heating system is archaic and very expensive to run and the buildings layout is limiting. You can find out more here https://newhospice.sah.org.uk/ The new building will transform patient care and enable the hospice to provide individualised care to patients and their families bespoke to their needs in a bright modern building fit for the future.
It will be my longest distance to date and hoping snacks (and
a little bit of training will see me through).
Any donation you could give would be very much appreciated by
myself and St Ann’s Hospice. Every £1 donated will help bring the vision of a new hospice building closer to reality and if nothing else you get to laugh at my inevitable discomfort.
