Story
Hi!!! Thanks for visiting our page!!!
We are doing the London Marathon and hoping to raise over 7K for charity. We are helping raise money for The Sick Childrens Trust. The Sick Childrens Trust is particularly close to our hearts as they are a charity who have helped a friend of our son's Ollie, called Theo.
Theo is 4 years old and he has had three liver transplants.
Theo's first real brush with hospital services came when he was struck down by a mystery virus in January 2006, when he was just 13-months-old.
By February he became so ill he was rushed to accident and emergency, where doctors immediately diagnosed liver failure.
For days he was kept alive by a dialysis machine while he waited for a donor organ. After five anxious days, the call came and Theo was rushed into surgery at St James's Hospital.
The transplant – during which only a portion of the donor liver was used because Theo was so small – seemed to have been a success.
But the new liver never began functioning properly and within 24 hours he was back on the transplant waiting list.
This time they only had to wait another day.
The second transplant was a success and his new liver began to work immediately.
Unfortunately Theo's second liver failed and he has now had a third liver transplant. He is currently on the mend and doing well. The has just finished three months isolation and is doing really well!!
