Story

In April 2023, we are running the London Marathon in support of SeeAbility. SeeAbility is a UK charity that empowers people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss to live ambitious lives achieving things they never thought possible. Whether its forming more friendships and relationships, enjoying new experiences, or finding employment, SeeAbility's vision is for inclusive communities where people with disabilities, can live, love, thrive and belong as equals in society.

About us

So we are 40 this year and wanted to party like its 1982 and what better way than have a massive party with London on the marathon day! We are going to run, dance, sing and maybe swear our way round for the awesome SeeAbility because life should never have limits placed on it!

Our journey to 40 has been fun, crazy and challenging at times. We both know what its like to have limitations put on our dreams and want to unsure others don't face limits needlessly and that is why we are running for SeeAbility.

About Liz

I took up running in 2019 on my journey to marathon one in 2019 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and now have Bob, my new boob and continue with treatment to stop cancer coming back. Treatment causes me bad joint and bone pain but nothing holds me down! Running is my happy place and I feel very lucky to share this marathon with my oldest, craziest friend Becky.

About Becky

Unlike Liz, I took up running 5 months ago! I started with the couch to 5k and I'm working my way up from there. I know this is going to be one rough ride but how can I sit on the side lines when I see my amazing friend concur what seem like impossible challenges with such power and strength! Liz has been an inspiration to me, the courage and determination it has taken her to not only get through treatment but beat Cancer is exceptional!

So, having always wanted  to complete the London Marathon and on its 40th year, with me and Liz turning 40 too, I thought it was probably time I gave this challenge a try!

So to the friends and family that laughed at me 5 months ago....  DIG DEEP PLEASE and watch us smash it!!!

About the charity

SeeAbility provides ambitious social care for people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss. We encourage them to challenge what they expect from life, from themselves and from wider society - and they in turn challenge us all to think about what’s possible, and to rethink disability.
