I'm dusting off my sneakers and attempting to run 13 miles for a very special little boy named Joey. Joey is only 4 years of age but is an absolute inspiration and his cause is something very close to my heart. His daddy is a very good old school friend of mine, and having been an epilepsy suffer myself as a child and having a mum that suffers from Grand Mal epilepsy, when Joeys condition was being diagnosed, I exchanged so much about my experiences with Joeys Dad, Chris. But what I've had to actually deal with, doesn't even compare.

Joey is an absolute inspiration through all his challenges and to say he's had a tough start in life, it would be an understatement, but he still has this enormous smile on his face and is a very happy chap. Joey's epilepsy is so severe, he can't walk, sit unaided or communicate verbally. He is peg fed and has a VNS which is a pace maker for the brain to manage his seizures. He has a life threatening condition and has a genetic condition, mitochondrial issue, that is so rare, a cure hasn't been found yet.

Following 3 major operations in order to manage his condition, he has started to babble lots and laughs a huge amount, which is truly heart warming!

The reason I would like to raise money for Joey is to improve his quality of life and make every day life more comfortable for him. He needs a PPod which is a seat that helps him sit comfortably and relax but comes in at a cost of £2000 which as you will appreciate is a massive financial burden to his family. So I ask, if you could please be kind enough to put your hands in your pockets and give anything you can, even the smallest donation will make a difference.

I will be running Swansea Half with 2 of my sisters, so I will have company along the way and although training has been a bit of a struggle with two young children, I'm determined to drag myself over that finish line!
